Common fee models
China sourcing agents commonly charge a percentage of order value, a fixed project fee, a monthly retainer or a per-service inspection fee. Percentage models often range by order size and workload; fixed scopes are easier to compare when deliverables are explicit.
What a sourcing fee should cover
Confirm whether search, supplier calls, quote comparison, samples, negotiation, payment handling, production follow-up and export coordination are included. Inspection and laboratory testing are usually separate because scope varies by product and risk.
The hidden-commission problem
A low headline rate can be offset by supplier rebates or marked-up freight. Ask whether the agent accepts supplier commissions and whether original supplier quotations, domestic freight and third-party invoices are visible to you.
A fair way to compare quotes
Compare total cost at your expected order value, then compare ownership of supplier relationships, quality-control independence, reporting depth and exit terms. The cheapest fee is not cheaper if incentives are misaligned.

We publish starting prices for defined checks and quote sourcing work against an agreed workload. We do not take supplier commissions. You approve suppliers, purchase orders and major payments.
